NYC hoops roundup

It was another basketball-focused weekend in New York, highlighted by high school action.

Small Apple’s own Patrick Clark and Geoff Decker covered the weekend’s PSAL borough championships (check out the podcast), and, as the Daily News writes, Lincoln is the top seed heading into the playoffs.

In other local hoops action, The Post reported on the spirited rivalry between Ivy Prep League foes Poly Prep and Collegiate, who locked horns last night on the Upper West Side (Poly Prep won, 55-45).

Speaking of high school hoops and the Post, there’s an interesting list of the top 25 NYC high school basketball players from the last 25 years. There are someĀ  true high school legends on the list (i.e. Kenny Anderson, Jamal Mashburn, etc.). Vote for your starting five.

On the college level, St. John’s traveled to Cincinnati over the weekend, barely holding off a late surge from the Bearcats for a 59-57 victory. Dwight Hardy poured in 18 points for the Red Storm, who take on Marquette tonight in Milwaukee.

And in a battle for local pro hoops bragging rights, the Knicks beat the Nets 105-95 in Jersey.
